WOMEN'S SOCCER: Hooper Named Heart Defensive POY, Lattimer Earns Freshman of the Year Honors

BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – For the second-straight season, Baker University senior Krista Hooper has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Hooper was one of two Wildcats named to the First Team All-Conference, joined by defender Jessica Hillebert, while teammate Jenna Lattimer was named the 2016 Heart Freshman of the Year and was named to the Second Team All-Conference.

Three other Wildcats were named to the Second Team All-Conference, including defender Oaklee Jones, midfielder Kady Dieringer and forward Megan Johnson.

Senior midfielder Keeley Atkin was also named to the Third Team All-Conference.

Hillebert, Jones and Hooper have helped lead a Baker defense to eight shutouts this season and have outscored its opponents, 50-20.

Hooper leads the team in goals scored with 50, while Dieringer and Lattimer are tied for second with nine goals each. Johnson is next with eight goals on the season.

Number 13 ranked Baker will host either Culver-Stockton or Clarke this Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Heart Conference Tournament.
