MEN'S BASKETBALL: Missouri Valley Holds Off Baker, 87-83

BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The Baker University men’s basketball team led 40-36 at halftime, but Missouri Valley used a 51-43 second half to push past the Wildcats, 87-83, on Tuesday evening for the victory.

The Wildcats were very efficient from the floor shooting 53.4-percent from the field on 31-of-58 shooting and knocked down 11 three-point field goals.

Sophomore Clae Martin led the way for Baker with 20 points on 6-of-10 from three-point range.

Gregg Easter supplied Baker with 10 points off the bench and Baker assisted on 16 of its field goals, with defending Heart Player of the Week Javeion Gray dishing out six assists.

Baker falls to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while the Vikings move to 4-2 and 3-1 in Heart games.

Missouri Valley caused 17 Baker turnovers and they posted four double-digit scorers. Tyrome Parker led Baker in rebounds with six.

The Vikings went to the free-throw line 30 times and shot 25-of-30, while Baker went 10-of-16.

Baker will next take on Avila on Monday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Collins Center.
