19th Annual Baker University Invitational Jazz Festival

Baldwin City, Kansas – The 19th Annual Baker University Invitational Jazz Festival will be held on November 18, 2016 in Rice Auditorium on the Baldwin City campus from 8am–5:30pm.  On Thursday, November 18th, the Baker University Jazz Ensemble will perform their annual jazz festival concert featuring guest artist, Michael Mixtacki, percussionist. Dr. Frank Perez, Director of Bands and newly appointed Director of the Baker Jazz Ensemble will conduct the concert, which is free and open to the public to attend.
Michael Mixtacki (http://www.mikemixtacki.com) is an active percussionist and educator living in San Antonio, Texas. He is a faculty member at the University of Texas at San Antonio, teaching percussion and drum set lessons, and codirects the UTSA Percussion Ensemble.  He was the lead singer, drummer, and percussionist for Ritmos Unidos, based in Bloomington, Indiana, and helped co-produce their two CD releases, “¡Funklorico!” and “Ritmos Unidos.” He also recorded with Grammy nominee Wayne Wallace and has been featured as a singer and percussionist with Brazilian bands Grupo Balança in Madison, Wisconsin, and Ginga in Boulder, Colorado.
