In a nondescript storefront in downtown Baldwin City, a flurry of activity has been happening over the last few days and weeks. Located at 719 8th Street, next door to the Farm Bureau office a new locally owned bakery is setting up shop. This past Thursday, November 17, 2016 a ribbon cutting was held to welcome this newest local business to the cities business community.
Owner, Lori Gardner, told the Gazette, that she started her business five years ago out of her home, before renting the storefront, with its all wood floors. According to Gardner, she will employ six employees besides herself and will open to the public tomorrow November 22. The bakery hours will be Tuesday and Wednesday 9 A.M. to 4 P.M., Thursday through Saturday 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. and closed Sunday's and Monday's.
The menu, Gardner said, will include salads, soups and sandwiches besides some traditional bakery items.

Before the ribbon cutting Glenn Rodden, City Administrator, welcomed the new business saying it was great to see all those that showed up for the ribbon cutting. Gardner in her brief speech before she cut the ribbon, thanked everyone for turning out, saying she really appreciates the community of Baldwin City. She also thanked her family for their support.
