BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – In a game that will be broadcast worldwide on ESPN 3, the WATCH ESPN App and locally on KSMO-TV, the Number 4 seeded Baker University women’s basketball team will travel to Number 2 MNU to compete in the championship of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament championship.
The Number 9 ranked Pioneers enter the contest 26-5 overall, while Number 24 ranked Baker enters the championship, 24-7.
These two last met in the Heart championship on Mar. 11, 2014 in Baldwin City, Kansas, with MNU prevailing in overtime, 79-72.
This season, MNU swept the two-game series with a 69-66 win at Baker on Nov. 21 and a win in Olathe, Kansas on Jan. 23, 65-54.
Baker enters the game ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in field-goal percentage defense at 33.4-percent and Macy Wallisch is Number 3 in the NAIA in blocks with 92.
Offensively, Kelsey Larson is the nations leader in three-point field-goal percentage at 51.9-percent.
Megan Balcom leads MNU in scoring at 14.39 points per game and is Number 6 in the NAIA in total three-point field goals made with 84.
Baker’s last victory over MNU came on the Pioneers home floor on Jan. 30, 2014, 84-72. That helped propel the ‘Cats to a 2013-14 Heart championship outright.
