Baker Softball Shuts Out Stephens for Sweep

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Baker University softball team swept Stephens College on Monday afternoon, 10-0 and 3-0, to move to 19-10 overall on the year.

Baker combined for 19 hits in the two wins and Olivia Brees struck out 15 batters in game one in just six innings of work.

In game one, Baker had 10 hits, with the biggest coming from Lucy Staats, as she hit a home run against Stephens’ Katelyn Rush.

Staats knocked in two RBI’s, as did Hannah Tolliver and Caitlin Hardgrove. Brees got the win and allowed just two hits. Katt Cooper threw the final inning, striking out one more batter.

In game two, Madison Nedved threw six innings of work and struck out five batters. She also had two hits and two RBI’s at the plate.

Baker had four doubles in game two with one each from Staats, Lizzie Stover, Nedved and Ilona Miller.

The Wildcats will next take on William Woods on Tuesday, Mar. 15 at 3 p.m. in Fulton, Missouri.
