DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Baker University softball team moved to 17-10 overall with its 3-2 record at the McPherson College Tournament.
On Friday, Mar. 11, Baker defeated Bethany, 5-2, then fell to Tabor, 4-1.
On Saturday, Mar. 12 the ‘Cats competed in three games, falling to Friends, 2-0, but bounced back with an 8-2 win over York and a 10-1 win over Bethel (Kan.).
In the win over Bethany, Olivia Brees won another contest for the ‘Cats with her complete game where she struck out seven batters.
Stephanie Cardona and Rachel Wheeler led Baker with two hits each. In the next win for Baker against York, the Baker offense had nine hits with three coming from Caitlin Hardgrove. She along with Savannah Bellem knocked in two runs each. Madison Nedved threw six innings and allowed just one earned run.
Baker won in five innings against Bethel and Tegan Louthan threw all five innings and allowed just one earned run.
Ilona Miller led the way with a 3-for-4 game and had four RBI’s and a double, while Wheeler added two hits.
Baker will next take on Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri on Monday, Mar. 14 at 2 p.m.
