Wildcats Baseball Split Series with CMU



BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – For the third-straight series, the Baker University baseball team split its Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader with Central Methodist on Tuesday at Sauder Field.

Baker won game one, 14-7, then fell to the Eagles, 8-4 in game two. Baker is now 9-13 overall and 3-3 in the Heart, while CMU now stands at 16-8 and 3-3 in conference play.

In game one, Seth Jones provided Baker with his fourth victory on the mound. The senior went five innings and allowed just two earned runs. The game consisted of 13 total errors, with seven from CMU and four for Baker.

Baker had 11 hits with three coming from Austin Bass. Wes Summers and Ethan Jacks both knocked in three RBI’s.

In game two, Justin Bye threw 3.2 innings and allowed seven earned runs, while Laken Straub threw 4.2 and Bennett White threw the final 0.2 inning.

Cort Brennan and Bass each had two hits and Brennan led the team with two RBI’s. Jacks and Bass knocked in the other two runs.

Baker will take on the University of Kansas on Wednesday, Mar. 23 at 6 p.m. in Lawrence, Kansas.
