WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: No. 4 Baker Advances to Heart Semifinals

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 4 seeded Baker University women’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament, as they defeated No. 5 Culver-Stockton, 64-37. The ‘Cats will now face No. 1 seeded Central Methodist on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 7 p.m. in Fayette, Missouri. Baker moves to 23-7 overall, while Culver-Stockton ends its season 22-9.
Three-time Heart Defensive Player of the Year Macy Wallisch led the Wildcats with five blocks and tied for the team lead in rebounds with nine. Sydney Buchel tied her in boards with nine.
Second Team All-Conference recipient Jami Hodge led all players with 14 points, while Brooke McMillin scored 10 points off the bench in just three minutes of action.
The Wildcats held Culver-Stockton to zero double-digit scorers, and held them to just 1-of-7 from three-point range, 14.3-percent.
Baker outrebounded the Wildcats, 49-32, with eight coming from Hodge and Culver-Stockton shot just 21.2-percent from the field overall.
The Wildcats led, 29-21, at the break and then held Culver-Stockton to just four points in the third quarter.
CMU defeated No. 8 Grand View, 78-66, on Thursday night in its quarterfinal match up.
