Number Two Baker Football Keeps Record Perfect with 73-26 Win at CMU

FAYETTE, Missouri – The number 2 ranked Baker University football team improved to a perfect 9-0 on Saturday, as they rolled past Central Methodist University, 73-26, and 3-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Southern Division.

Baker entered halftime up 52-0 and held CMU to just 81 yards of total offense in the first half.

The ‘Cats finished with 705 yards of offense, 231 on the ground and 474 through the air. The defense also caused nine punts.

Four-time Heart Player of the Week Logan Brettell threw for 389 yards and three TD’s on 31-of-40 passing.

11 different Wildcats caught a pass and Adonis Powell led the team in rushing for the second-straight week with 82 yards on 16 attempts and two touchdowns.

Baker had two non-offensive touchdowns, as Tywonn Moss blocked a CMU punt and Indie Allen picked it up and went 88 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Clay Drouillard also scored on an interception, as the picked off a pass in the third quarter and took it 29-yards for a TD. Nate McLaurin also had an interception and returned 37 yards.

Cornell Brown scored twice for the ‘Cats on the ground and Quanzee Johnson, Ladai Shawn Boose, Damon Nolan and Moss each had a receiving touchdown.

Jacob Thomas recovered a fumble for the Baker defense and Allen led the team in tackles with eight.

Nick Becker had the Wildcats’ only sack of the day and Landon Decker led the team in tackles for loss with two.

Baker will return home to take on number 9 ranked Missouri Valley who is 8-1 for the year and 3-0 in conference play and defeated Evangel, 51-3, on Saturday.
