Baldwin City Council Meets October 3

In the absence of Marilyn Pearse, Council President Kathy Gerstner called the meeting to order at 7 P.M. She and the rest of the council made quick work of the agenda.




  • Approving a contract agreement with Zimmerschied Architecture, P. L. L. C. of Lawrence on a voice vote of 3-2, with Council-members Gerstner and Christi Darnell casting the dissenting votes. The vote on funding the Utility Building Project will be taken up at another meeting.
  • Postponed action on Ordinance 1353, a KDHE Loan Agreement to replace deteriorating water lines. The project will be bid out, with construction expected to begin in early spring next year with work not expected to last more then a year. The work isn't expected to to cause any major disruptions in service, during construction or the transfer to the new lines.
  • Council members and staff mentioned that the mill-work being done on Sixth Street is not the city, but the county. The county expects to have the work completed by the end of this week, before next weeks Maple Leaf Festival.
  • The meeting adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
