Baker Football Holds on to Number 2 Ranking

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – After its bye week, the Baker University football team held onto the number 2 spot in this week’s NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll, announced on Monday.

The 6-0 ‘Cats earned 327 total points in the poll, just 13 points ahead of defending NAIA national champion, number 1 ranked Marian (Ind.).

Four other teams from the Heart join Baker in this week’s poll including number 7 Grand View, number 13 Missouri Valley, number 20 Benedictine and number 22 Peru State.

Baker will next take on Avila this Saturday, October 15 at 6 p.m. inside Liston Stadium. Baker is 14-0 all-time against the Eagles.

The Wildcats have outscored its opponents, 312-90, this season and has held all six of its foes to 27 points or under.

Avila enters the game with an 0-6 record and has allowed scores of 61, 60 and 65 in its last three contests, coming against Grand View, Culver-Stockton and William Penn.

Dating back to last season, Baker has won 12-straight games against a Heart of America Athletic Conference opponent.
