BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The Baker University football team again jumped in the latest installment of the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll, as they moved from number 3 to number 2 this week, tied for its highest-ever ranking.
The perfect 6-0 ‘Cats defeated its fourth ranked team of the 2016 season on Saturday, as they rolled past number 22 Peru State, 42-21, for its twelfth-straight win over a Heart of America Athletic Conference opponent.
The Wildcats are in the Top 10 nationally in numerous categories including number 1 in total pass offense with 2,387 yards, number 2 in total scoring with 310 points and number 3 in sacks allowed with just three.
The defense ranks number 5 in the NAIA in scoring defense per game at 15 per game and number 9 in total yards allowed per game at 304.2.
Joining Baker in the Top 25 from the Heart includes number 8 Grand View, number 13 Missouri Valley, number 20 Benedictine and number 24 Peru State.
Baker is off this week and will next face Avila on Saturday, October 15 at 6 p.m. inside Liston Stadium.
