Baker Women Sends Seniors off with Victory over Peru State

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The (RV) Baker University women’s basketball team sent off one of its most decorated senior classes in program history with an 85-43 victory over Peru State on Senior Night.

The Wildcats honored seniors Macy Wallisch, Jami Hodge, Ericka Simpson and Taylor Chase after the win.



Baker moves to 21-7 overall and 15-6 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and gets the season sweep over Peru State, while the Bobcats fell to 6-23 and 3-18 in the Heart.

Three of the seniors scored in double figures, as Wallisch led the team in scoring and rebounding with a double-double 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Simpson scored 12 points with six assists and Hodge dropped 15 points with three steals. Chase finished with two points, two assists and six rebounds.

Kelsey Larson was the final Wildcat to score in double figures with 11. Baker shot 50.8-percent from the field and was nearly perfect from the free-throw line shooting 93.3-percent, on 14-of-15.

The ‘Cats outrebounded the Bobcats, 46-27, and caused 18 turnovers. Jessica Zweifel had a solid game off of the bench with nine points and four rebounds.

The Wildcats will travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa for its regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. to face William Penn.
