BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Under the direction of 13th year head coach and 2015 Heart of America Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Mike Grossner, No. 5 ranked Baker University announced its 2016 football schedule on Friday.
The Wildcats finished 2015 with an overall record of 11-2 and went a perfect 5-0 in the Heart South, capturing its second conference title in three years. The ‘Cats also appeared in its third NAIA FCS Playoff appearance in the last four years.
In 2016, Baker will open up its schedule against No. 6 ranked Grand View, who won the 2015 Heart North title and its only Heart loss in 2015 came at home against Baker in the season opener in Des Moines, Iowa, 20-15.
This years contest will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m., fans are asked to wear Orange, as we Orange Out Liston Stadium.
Baker will face two other ranked teams in 2016 including No. 24 ranked William Penn on the road on Sept. 10 at 12 p.m. and hosts No. 21 ranked Benedictine inside Liston Stadium for the first time since 2011 on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. That game will also feature Homecoming for Baker.
The Wildcats will also host Avila University on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. under the lights on the annual Maple Leaf Festival weekend in Baldwin City. Fans are encouraged to come watch the Wildcats face the Eagles after they enjoy the city’s largest festival.
On Saturday, Nov. 5 Baker will host rival Missouri Valley at 1 p.m. on the University’s annual Family Day.
Senior Day will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. when Baker hosts Evangel. Baker will honor its senior class before kickoff.
