BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – For the fifth-straight season, the Baker University men’s indoor track and field team captured the Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field championship.
Baker tallied 147 points, 44 ahead of second place MidAmerica Nazarene, while the BU women’s team finished in seventh-place, while Benedictine (Women) took first place.
In his first season leading the Wildcats, Baker alum and head track & field coach Ryan Pitts was named the 2016 Heart of America Athletic Conference Indoor Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year.
Several Wildcats finished in first-place including Dayshawn Berndt with his time of 22.72 in the 200-meter dash.
Berndt was also part of the men’s 4x400m relay team that finished in first place. The team of Berndt, Tyler Randall, David Gregory and Birdsong Warren finished the race in a time of 3:23.17.
Josh Peck finished in first place in the men’s shot put with his top mark of 14.83-meters.
On the women’s side, Brenda McCollum took home first place in the 3,000m race walk in a time of 15:42.79 and Kendal Holloman also finished in first place with a top mark of 3.27-meters.
