BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The number 10 Baker University women's basketball team defeated the Mount Mercy Mustangs on Saturday afternoon inside the Collins Center by a final score of 79-60 for its seventh-straight Heart of America Athletic Conference victory.
With today's win, Baker moves to 20-4 and 18-2 in conference action, while Mount Mercy drops to 10-14 and 7-13 in the Heart.
The 'Cats also took tremendous care of the ball in the first half, only committing two turnovers, and finished the game with just six.
Four 'Cats scored in double figures on the afternoon as Sydnie Hanson led the way with 18 points, followed by Sydney Buchel with 13, and both Mackenzie Cook and Jessica Zweifel scored 11.
Baker dominated the boards all game as they outrebounded the Mustangs, 45-30, led by Hanson with seven.
The Wildcat defense caused 12 Mount Mercy turnovers and held them to just 35-percent from three-point range, as they shot 7-of-20.
Mackenzie Cook dished out four assists on the day and Zwiefel led the team with five.
Baker will next travel to Evangel on Feb. 8 to take on the Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. in Springfield, Missouri.
