WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Number 10 Baker Defeats CSC, 73-47, on Groundhog Day

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The number 10 ranked Baker University Wildcats defeated Culver-Stockton, 73-47, to earn the season sweep over the ‘Cats on Groundhog Day.

With the win, BU moves to 19-4, and 17-2 in the Heart, maintaining a first place lead along with Benedictine in the conference standings. Culver-Stockton drops to 8-15, and 6-13 in conference action.

Baker got off to a hot start as they outscored Culver, 20-12, and 20-9 in the first and second quarters respectively.

BU had three ‘Cats score in double figures on the night. Jessica Zweifel led the way with 19 points, followed by Sydnie Hanson with 12, and Mackenzie Cook with 10.

Zweifel was nearly perfect from the field, as she shot 5-of-5 from three-point range, 2-of-2 from the free-throw stripe and was 6-of-8 overall.

The ‘Cats defense also played a huge role in the victory, forcing 19  turnovers and holding Culver to 40-percent shooting from the field.

Senior forward Kelsey Larson had another solid night for Baker, recording nine points, five assists, five rebounds, and four steals.

Baker also had another impressive night behind the arc, shooting 10-of-18 from three-point range, good for 55-percent.

Baker’s next matchup will be against Mount Mercy, on Saturday, February 4 at 12 p.m. inside the ‘Collins Center.
