BASEBALL: Baker Storms Back for Another Split


DES MOINES, Iowa. – The Baker University baseball team continued its streak of splitting Heart of America Athletic Conference series’, as they split its doubleheader at Grand View with a 7-1 loss in game one and an 8-3 win in game two.

Baker now sits at 11-15 overall and 5-5 in the Heart, while Grand View falls to 10-6 overall and is in first-place in the Heart at 6-2.

In the first game, Seth Jones threw a complete game and allowed just three earned runs in the loss and struck out two batters.

Sean Beal scored the Wildcats lone run in the contest, as Charlie Coleman knocked him in, in the Top of the 3rd.

In game two, Baker put one run on the board in the 2nd, two in the third, two in the fourth and three more in the 5th.

Neal Boyce, Cory Gregory and Travis Johnson all had doubles for the Wildcats and Jake Gesling led the way with a 3-for-4 game.

Gabe Greenbaum, Gregory, Austin Bass and Wes Summers all had two hits.

Justin Bye received the win after throwing five innings. The senior allowed only two earned runs and just five hits.

Baker will next take on Friends University on Wednesday, Mar. 30, as they travel to Wichita, Kansas for a nine-inning game at 3 p.m.
