Men's Basketball Number 24 Benedictine Snaps Baker's Three-Game Win Streak


BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University men's basketball team dropped a close matchup to the number 24 ranked Benedictine College Ravens by a final score of, 73-71, on Saturday afternoon in Atchison, Kansas.

With the loss, Baker falls to 14-12 overall and 11-11 in Heart action, while BC improves to 20-6, and 17-5 in conference play.

The 'Cats held a 37-33 lead going into halftime, but were outscored, 40-34, in the second half giving the Ravens the narrow win.

The 'Ravens Andre Yates led the way, scoring 24 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, and 10-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Three 'Cats scored in double figures on the afternoon, led by senior guard Tyrome Parker, who scored 18 points.

Nathan Guscott and Tyree Peter scored 13 and 12 points respectively. Peter also led Baker in rebounding, grabbing eight boards

Collectively, Baker shot 43.1 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from behind the arc.

The 'Cats forced ten 'Ravens turnovers, and held BC to just 17.6-percent shooting from the three-point line.

Baker will next take on rival MNU on Wednesday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Olathe, Kansas.
