MEN'S BASKETBALL: (RV) Graceland Escapes with 81-78 win at Baker


BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The Baker University men’s basketball team fell at home to Graceland, 71-68, on Thursday night inside the Collins Center.

With the loss Baker falls to 8-8 overall and 5-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while the Jackets move to 11-5 and 8-4 in conference play.

Baker started off each half hot, as they led, 43-36, at the break and then jumped out to an 8-0 start to the second half.

But Graceland used a big second half to outscore the ‘Cats, 45-35, in the second half behind LT Davis’ game-high 29 points. Jeremy Deemer added 22 points and the Jackets shot 46.6-percent from the field on the night.

Four Wildcats scored in double figures, as Javeion Gray had a game-high 16 and Daniel Young added 14. Joining them in double figures was Clae Martin with 12 and Tyree Peter with 11.

The Wildcats went 18-of-23 from free-throw range and 43.9-percent from the field. Peter and Young each came down with five rebounds.

Baker will next travel to Grand View on Monday January 16, 2017 in Des Moines, Iowa at 7:30 p.m.
