Number 17 Grand View Hands Baker's Men's Basketball a Road Loss, 88-75


DES MOINES, Iowa – Despite an impressive double-double performance by Tyree Peter, the Baker University men’s basketball team fell at number 17 ranked Grand View, 88-75, on Monday night.

With the win, Grand View moves to 12-5 overall and 11-4 in conference play, while Baker falls to 10-9 and 7-8 in the Heart.

The game was close throughout the first half as Grand View held just a one-point lead heading into the break, 28-27.

Peter led the ‘Cats in scoring coming off of the bench, recording a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, while teammate Javeion Grey led Baker in assists with six.

Grand View was able to stretch the lead as they opened up the second half on an 8-0 run, going up 36-27.

All five starters for Grand View scored in double digits. As a team, the Vikings shot 44-percent from the field on the night, and converted on 41-of-47 free-throws.

The Vikings forced 14 turnovers while also recording eight blocks, and held the Vikings to 30-percent from three-point range.

The ‘Cats shot 41.8-percent from the field, and 27.8-percent from behind the arc, making 5-of-18 three-point attempts.

Baker will next face Avila University on Wednesday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Kansas City.
