In unofficial results, Challenger Casey Simoneau has unseated incumbent Mayor Marilyn Pearse in the Baldwin City mayoral race. With all Baldwin City precincts reporting, Simoneau, a member of the Baldwin City Planning Commission, had a 61-vote lead over Pearse.
In the race for city council, Brian Crammer garnered the most votes in the six-way race to fill two open seats, with 275 votes. Local photographer, Susan Pitts came in second, with 226 votes. A. J. Stevens, who had been appointed in July to fill the vacancy on the council, created by the untimely death of Council-member Steve Bauer, came in third. Stevens told the Gazette after the council meeting that he was very happy. He is glad to see people, he believes he can work with.
All three USD 348 school board races up for election were uncontested. Election results will become official, when the County Commissioners, canvass the votes at their meeting tomorrow at 9 A.M.
