ATCHISON, Kansas – After trailing 1-0, the No. 10 ranked Baker University men’s soccer team stormed back to win 3-2 in double overtime over rival Benedictine on Wednesday night.
Gonnie Ben-Tal tied the match up in the 19th minute off of a corner kick from Peyton Brown.
Then in the 71st minute Benedictine’s Ryan Dickerson gave the Ravens a 2-1 lead. The Wildcats then relied on its speedster Blake Levine to step up and he tied the match in the 82nd minute.
The match ended when Brown nailed a free kick from 40 yards out into the back of the net in the 103rd minute and the Wildcat bench exploded with excitement.
Baker is now 6-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the Heart, while Benedictine falls to 1-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Heart.
Ben-Tal and Levine are now tied for the team lead in goals scored with four along with teammate Steeve Pouna.
Baker out-shot Benedictine, 21-13, and took 17 shots on goal, compared to six by the Ravens.
Nick Riggle finished with four saves for BU and Keaton Anchors led the way with four shots taken.
BU will now host Culver-Stockton this Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 p.m. inside Liston Stadium.
