JOPLIN, Mo. – No. 5 Baker dropped its first loss of the 2016 Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Saturday, as they fell to Number 2 Central Methodist, 12-9.
Baker is still alive in the double-elimination tournament and will next play on Saturday at 10 a.m. against the winner of Number 4 MNU and Number 8 Peru State for a spot in the Heart Championship game.
Senior Travis Johnson had a huge game offensively with a 4-for-5 day with four RBI’s. Charlie Coleman, Ethan Jacks, Cort Brennan, Austin Bass and Wes Summers all had multi-hit games with two hits each. Bass and Coleman had Baker’s two extra base hits with a double each.
Caleb Lee got the start and threw 6.2 innings, while Bennett White threw an inning and Kekai Rivera-Albeso threw a scoreless 0.1 inning.
Baker had 16 hits on its nine runs, while the Eagles scored 12 runs on 11 hits.
