BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 5 seeded Baker University baseball team kept its perfect record against Number 8 Peru State in tact on Friday, as they defeated the Bobcats, 16-7, to move to 2-0 in the 2016 Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Wildcats have moved on to Game 11 of the tournament and will play on Saturday at 4 p.m. The have also guaranteed a spot in Monday’s action.
Baker moved to 5-0 on the year against Peru State, as they swept the Bobcats in a four-game series on Apr. 16-17.
The 16 runs for Baker are the most in a game this season, the second most came on April 22 when they scored 15 against Evangel.
Baker scored two runs in the first, two runs in the second, one in the third, seven in the fifth and four in the seventh.
Charlie Coleman had the big hit for the ‘Cats with a home run, while Cort Brennan had a triple and Cody Gregory supplied a double.
Ethan Jacks went 3-for-5, while Coleman, Greenbaum, Gregory and Travis Johnson all had two hits.
Justin Bye went 4.1 innings, as he started the contest and Jack Mayes lasted the final 4.2 innings and received the win. He allowed just one earned run and two hits.
