BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – With its 84-52 victory over number 8 seeded Grand View, number 1 Baker moves onto the Heart of America Athletic Conference Semifinals and will face rival number 4 MNU on Friday night at 7 p.m. inside the Collins Center.
The Wildcats move to 27-4 on the year, while Grand View ends its season, 15-17, Baker went 3-0 against the Vikings this season.
Baker's defense stymied Grand View from the start, as they outscored the Vikings, 17-4, at the end of the first quarter.
Baker led at the break, 32-20, and saved its best offensive quarter for last, as they outscored the Vikings, 32-13, in the fourth quarter.
Sydnie Hanson led all Wildcats in scoring with 17 points and 2016-17 Heart Women's Basketball Player of the Year Kelsey Larson added 16.
Two other 'Cats scored in double figures as well, as MacKenzie Cook scored 11 and Anna Hignight netted 12.
Baker outrebounded the Vikings, 39-30, with six coming from point guard Jessica Zweifel.
The Wildcats will look for the season sweep of its rival MNU on Friday Night. Baker defeated the Pioneers, 85-60, back on Jan. 9 and 72-60, back on February 4.
This marks the fifth-straight season Baker has advanced to the Heart Semifinals, Baker is in search of its first-ever Heart Conference Tournament Championship.
