BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The number 8 seeded Baker University men's basketball team defeated number 9 Peru State, 95-77, on Tuesday night to move onto the Heart of America Athletic Conference Quarterfinals to take on number 1 William Penn on Friday Night.
The win moved the Wildcats to 17-14 on the year and will take on the number 1 seeded and number 2 nationally ranked William Penn Statesman on Thursday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in the Heart Quarterfinals.
On Tuesday night, Tyrome Parker continued to lead the Wildcats, as the senior scored a game high 27 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting and 6-of-10 from the free-throw line. He also had six rebounds.
Tyree Peter had another double-double, as he went for 13 points and 11 rebounds and two other Wildcats scored in double figures, as Javeion Gray scored 14 points in his final game inside the Collins Center and Brett Elifritz scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
2016-17 Heart First Team performer Rashad Brackeen led the Bobcats with 28 points. Baker outrebounded the Bobcats, 43-28, with 11 coming from Peter and six from Parker.
The Wildcats will next take on number 1 seeded William Penn on Friday night at 7 p.m. for a spot in the Heart Semifinals.
Baker defeated the Statesman, 88-85, back on November 19 inside the Collins Center, before taking on William Penn to 2OT thriller on Jan. 28 with WPU prevailing, 95-93.
