County's community theater group at Ottawa Municipal Auditorium at 301
S Hickory." The group will present the tale of "The Monkey's Paw" by Jacobs
and Parker, "The Red Lamp" by Hilliard Booth, and Edgar Allen Poe's
"The Raven" at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm for seating on Friday October 7th and Saturday October 8th. There will be a dinner theater option on Saturday October 8th,
with doors open at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm meal. Dinner will be catered
by our own local Lillybelle's and will consist of a bread bowl with
choice of Butternut & Pumpkin soup or Potato Chicken Chowder and a
salad. For dessert, we will serve a wonderful slice of cheesecake with
your choice of a chocolate, strawberry, or caramel drizzle. The
deadline for ordering dinner reservations is September 23. There will be a matinee show at 3pm, with doors opening at 2:30 p.m.

Baker Football Jumps to Number 3 in Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The Baker University football team jumped again this week in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 poll from number 4 to number 3, announced on Monday.
The Wildcats improved to a perfect 5-0 last Saturday in its 60-7 dismantling of rival then-number 12 Benedictine on Saturday in the NAIA Game of the Week. Baker is 2-0 in NAIA Game of the Week contests in 2016, they defeated then-number 23 William Penn, 41-7m back on Sept. 10.
Baker ranks number 1 in several categories nationally including total pass offense with 2,055 yards, 411 pass yards per game, sacks allowed 1 and are No. 2 in total points scored with 268 points (53.6 points per game).
Individually Clarence Clark leads the country in total scoring as a kicker with 41 points and Logan Brettell is first in total offense with 1,912 yards.
Three other teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference join Baker in the Top 25 including number 8 Grand View, number 13 Missouri Valley and number 22 Peru State.
Baker and Peru State will clash this Saturday, October 1 at 2 p.m. in Peru, Nebraska.
Dating back to last season, Baker has one 11-straight games against a team from the Heart.

Number 4 Baker Football Rolls Past Number 12 Benedictine in NAIA Game of the Week

BALDWIN CITY, Kansas – The number 4 Baker football team improved to 5-0 on Homecoming Saturday after defeating the mu,ber 12 ranked Benedictine College Ravens 60-7, in the NAIA Game of the Week.
The Ravens fall to 3-2 on the year and the Wildcats improve to 19-14-1 all-time against BC and 9-4 under head coach Mike Grossner.
The Wildcats started the game with a 13-play, 72-yard drive that ended with a one-yard Cornell Brown touchdown to put the Wildcats up 7-0 early in the first quarter.
Brown was a catalyst for the Wildcat offense, gaining 196 total yards and scoring two touchdowns on the day.
The special teams caught a break in the first quarter, as a Benedictine fourth down saw the snap go over the punter’s head and into the end zone for a Baker safety.
The Ravens were able to answer before the quarter was over, picking off a Logan Brettell pass on the Wildcats ensuing possession and scoring on a 19-yard Jacob Koester pass to Tyler Henness to cut the Wildcat lead to 9-7 at the end of the first quarter.
Midway through the second quarter, Brettell threw his first touchdown pass of the game on an eight-yard pass to Clarence Clark to give the Wildcats a 16-7 advantage over the Ravens.
That reception gave Clark the career record for receiving yards as a Baker Wildcat, eclipsing the total of 2,229 set by Gary Greenwood, who was in attendance as a 2016 Baker Athletics Hall of Fame inductee. Clark finished with three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Clark also added a 24-yard field goal late in the first half to put the Wildcats up 19-7, and a three-and-out forced by the Baker defense allowed Brettell to put on a 6 play drive, for 65 yards, capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass to Quanzee Johnson to bring the halftime score to 26-7.
Brettell’s 393 yard performance in the game was his fourth 300+ yard effort in five games.
Brettell also added a 16-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, the only score for either team in that quarter.
The Wildcats came with big plays on offense and defense in the fourth, scoring four touchdowns in a little over two minutes, two of them coming defensively.
Avery Parker returned an interception 85 yards to score, giving the Wildcats a 47-7 lead early in the fourth. Then Kegan Schumann picked off a Benedictine pass and returned it 27 yards for a score, putting the score at its final of 60-7.
The Wildcats forced six Benedictine turnovers in the game, a number only surpassed in the 89-27 victory over Culver-Stockton College, when they forced seven. Nick Shondell had his first career interception in the second quarter, after Nick Becker tipped a Koester pass at the line of scrimmage.
The 53-point victory gives the Wildcats a 40.2 average margin of victory through five games before they take on Peru State College, a 4-1 squad that beat number 23 MidAmerica Nazarene University 21-17 on Saturday. The 2015 matchup between Baker and the Bobcats ended with a 35-10 Wildcat win.

MEN'S SOCCER: Baker Hangs on to Number 10 Spot
KANSAS CITY, Missouri – After a 5-2 start to its 2016 season, the Baker University men’s soccer team stayed at No. 10 in the first installment of the 2016 NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 poll of the regular season.
Baker is currently 1-2 this season against ranked opponents, including a 2-0 win over current No. 3 Davenport University.
The Wildcats are one of four teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference ranked this week, which are the most teams ranked from one conference in the country.
The other three teams include, number 4 MNU, No. 14 Grand View and
number 17 Missouri Valley.
The ‘Catas rank No. 3 in the country in total shutouts this season with five.
Baker will face rival Benedictine this Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Atchison, Kansas.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Baker Ranked Number 16 in First Regular Season Poll
KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The Baker University women’s soccer team claimed the No. 16 spot in the first 2016 NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll of the regular season.
The 5-2 Wildcats have a shot at a ranked opponent this Wednesday, September 21, as they face Heart rival number 9 Benedictine at 5 p.m. in Atchison, Kansas.
Baker and BC are the only two teams from the Heart ranked in the Top 25. BU returns home this Saturday, September 24 on Homecoming to face Culver-Stockton at 6 p.m. who handed Benedictine a 2-0 loss on September 17.
The Wildcats have outscored its opponents, 16-11, so far this season and have out-shot its opponents, 109-53.
