Baker Women Defense Propels Wildcats to Road win at Culver-Stockton



BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After jumping out to a 24-12 lead at the end of the first quarter, the (RV) Baker University women’s basketball team held on for a 61-43 road win at Culver-Stockton on Saturday afternoon.

With the win Baker moves to 19-6 overall and 13-5 in the Heart, while Culver falls to 18-8 and 11-7 in conference play.

Baker’s defense kept Culver at bay, holding them to just 24.6-percent and 1-of-10 from three-point range, 10-percent.

Macy Wallisch just missed another double-double with her 13 points and nine rebounds and Sydney Buchel matched Wallisch with nine boards of her own.

Kelsey Larson had 12 points and Courtney Hoag added 11 off the bench. Baker also performed well on the glass, outrebounding the Wildcats, 61-43.

The Wildcats will next face a pivotal Heart matchup, as they travel to Benedictine on Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. BC is 14-4 in conference play, one game ahead of Baker in third-place.
