BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker University senior center Macy Wallisch won an unprecedented third-straight Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Year award, announced on Monday.
The 6-3 senior was also named to the 2015-16 Heart of America Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference.
She currently ranks No. 4 in the NAIA in total blocks with 86 and is the all-time leader in blocked shots for Baker with 297.
Wallisch is fourth on the team in scoring averaging 10.5 points per game and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.1 boards per game.
Joining her on the 2015-16 Heart All-Conference list includes seniors Jami Hodge and Ericka Simpson on the Second Team All-Conference team and Kelsey Larson was named to the Heart Honorable Mention All-Conference team.
Simpson leads the Wildcats in scoring at 12.1 per game and in assists with 83. Hodge leads the team in steals with 70 and ranks No. 15 nationally in that category.
Larson has been proficient from three-point range, leading the country in three-point field percentage at 51.9-percent.
The Wildcats enter this week’s Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Culver-Stockton this Thursday, Mar. 3 at 7 p.m. Baker is currently 22-7 on the year and captured its fourth-straight season with 20 or more wins.
