Baker Men Take 2nd at Conference Tournament, Rahachou Wins Player of the Year


OLATHE, Kan. – The Baker University men’s and women’s tennis teams competed in the 2016 Association of Independent Institutions Conference Tournament over the weekend, as the men’s team advanced to the championship round, falling to Missouri Baptist, 5-4, and the women’s team advanced to the semifinal round also falling to William Woods, 5-0.

The event was held at the College Boulevard Activities Center in Olathe, Kansas.

To advance to the semifinals, the women’s team defeated Missouri Baptist, 5-0, before falling to WWU.

While the men’s team defeated Lindenwood-Belleville, 5-3, William Woods, 5-4, before ending its season in the title match to MBU.

For his outstanding season, Spartak Rahachou was named the Conference Player of the Year and earned a spot on the First-Team All-Conference as a singles player.

He and teammate Blake Barnard were named to the First Team All-Conference doubles team.
