Baker Baseball Earns Number 5 Seed in Heart Conference Tournament


BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball team will compete in its second Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament in the last three years this week, as they earned the Number 5 seed in the upcoming tournament.

Number 5 Baker will take on rival Number 4 MNU this Thursday, May 5 at 1 p.m. in the First Round. The winner will move on to face the winner of No. 1 Avila and Number 8 Peru State on Friday, May 6 at 4 p.m.

The loser of the matchup will face the loser of the Avila vs. Peru State game on Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m.

The games will be held May 5-10 at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin, Missouri.

Baker enters the tournament with an overall record of 22-29 and went 16-16 in conference play, while MNU is 38-13 overall and 21-11 in Heart play.

MNU went 3-1 against Baker this season, taking three of the four game series on April 8 by scores of, 8-0, 11-2, 5-0 and lost game four to the ‘Cats, 11-8.
