BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University track & field team continued its outdoor season over the weekend, as they competed at the historic Kansas Relays and Tabor Relays.
The men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Birdsong Warren, DayShawn Berndt, Tyler Randall and Jesse Mathews broke the school record at the Kansas Relays with a time of 3:14.31 and took sixth in the final heat.
CJ Hess took ninth in the men’s javelin with a personal best throw of 54.82m, and Mathews shined in the men’s 400m hurdle race in a time of 54.75.
At the Tabor Relays, Gloria Mares won the women’s 200m race in a time of 26:40 and hit the A Standard qualifying for the NAIA Outdoor track & field national championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Corey Matteson also took first place in the men’s 3,000m Steeplechase.
Baker will next compete on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 10 am in the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open inside Liston Stadium.
