The Wildcats were able to take control about midway through the first half, as Gonnie Ben-Tal knocked in a shot from 25 yards out to give Baker a 1-0 advantage over the Pirates.

For the game, the Pirates had only seven shots, and Riggle came away with his second consecutive shutout victory. All four of the Wildcats’ wins this year have come on shutouts.

FOOTBALL: Number. 5 Baker Has Record Breaking Day in Win over CSC, 89-27

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The number 5 ranked Baker University football team had a record-setting day on Saturday, defeating Culver-Stockton 89-27.

Both individual and team records were set, as the Wildcats’ 75 points in the first half broke the 96-year old record of 60, when Baker defeated Bethel 115-0 and scored 60 points in the first half.

Quarterback Logan Brettell’s seven touchdowns through the air, all in the first half, broke Jake Morse’s record of six set in 2013, and Clarence Clark’s 27th touchdown reception gave him the all-time career record in that category.

The scoring started with the second play from scrimmage, as Brettell’s screen pass to Clark went 51 yards for a touchdown. Just 2:28 later, after a fumble by Culver-Stockton, Brettell hit Quanzee Johnson for a 15-yard touchdown to put the Wildcats up 14-0.

Culver’s only score of the first half came on the following possession, as Matt Gunterman hit John Haarman for a 69-yard touchdown. Baker answered almost immediately with a Cornell Brown reception, as the Wildcats took a 21-0 lead.

Two more offensive touchdowns, as well as a blocked punt for a safety and a pick-six by Avery Parker gave Baker a 44-6 lead before the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats tacked on four more touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter. Brettell was taken out midway through the second quarter, and finished the game 18-of-19 for 329 yards as well as the seven touchdowns.

Adam Lomenick led Baker after that point, putting up 148 yards and two touchdowns passing before halftime. He finished the game 13-of-19 for 174 yards and two touchdowns.

The Wildcats had 547 yards of total offense in the first half compared to 129 for Culver-Stockton. Baker utilized big play on both offense and defense, scoring four 50+ yard touchdowns and forcing seven CS-C turnovers.

C-SC was able to put the first 21 points on the board in the second half as Baker used their reserves, taking the opening possession into the end zone to cut the Baker lead to 75-12 after a failed two-point conversion.

Later in the third quarter, Culver-Stockton put together an eight play, 70-yard drive that ended in a 16 yard touchdown, and on its first drive of the fourth quarter, scored on a 34-yard touchdown to cut Baker’s lead to 75-27.
The Wildcats responded with 14 points of their own with touchdowns from Eli Stout and JR Bryson, bringing the score to its final of 89-27.

Baker improved its all-time record against C-SC to 33-4, and the record under head coach Mike Grossner to 11-2. The Wildcats will take on William Penn University Saturday, Sept. 10 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The Statesman are 0-2 on the season, with a pair of one-point losses. The last meeting between the Wildcats and the Statesmen saw Baker come away with a 48-13 victory. The game will be broadcast worldwide on ESPN3.

Ibotta Partners With Leading Companies to Offer Consumers First-Ever Rewards for Purchases Made on Mobile Apps

DENVER, CO, (PRNewswire) - Ibotta, the mobile shopping app whose users have earned more than $110 million in rewards on in-store purchases, today launched a brand-new way for consumers to discover great brands and earn rewards on mobile, in-app purchases. Through partnerships with mobile commerce leaders such as Boxed, Groupon, Hotels.com, and Jet, Ibotta will offer rewards to shoppers for ordering goods and services directly from their smartphones and tablets.
As part of this app-to-app marketplace, Ibotta, which already features an array of offers from leading brands and retailers for rewards on groceries, clothing, electronics, and other in-store items, will now feature a Mobile Apps category. Launch partners include leading mobile innovators Boxed, delivery.com, DoorDash, Drizly, Groupon, Hotels.com, Jet, and Spring.

"More people than ever before are making purchases through mobile apps as a convenient way to shop right from their smartphones but, until now, there hasn't been a way to save on those in-app purchases," said Bryan Leach, founder and CEO of Ibotta. "Now, shoppers can unlock offers through Ibotta before they shop on other apps, and automatically earn rewards whenever they book hotel rooms, order food delivery, purchase concert tickets, and more."
Ibotta commissioned a recent survey* on the mobile shopping habits of smartphone users that showed increased consumer interest for a more seamless way to earn rewards on mobile purchases. Nearly 62 percent of respondents said they would be more willing to make in-app purchases if offered rewards, and 75 percent said they would be more willing to try a new app if they earned cash back on a first purchase.
Button, the leading contextual commerce company that powers the app-to-app deep-linking experiences for Ibotta, provides seamless navigation from Ibotta to the purchase flow on partner apps. Consumers start their shopping journey with the Ibotta app, where they can unlock offers, and then are taken directly to the selected native app to shop for goods and services. Once users complete an in-app purchase, Button automatically verifies the Ibotta rewards in near real time, providing users instant feedback on their rewards. Since the user rewards drive a higher intent to purchase from consumers, Button's commerce partners find it to be one of the highest converting channels for mobile app acquisition. According to a Button case study, publishers boast revenue increases north of 450 percent versus driving users to mobile web.
With more than two million mobile apps available for download in the United States, and Americans spending more than $100 billion a year on mobile purchases, Ibotta's app-to-app marketplace gives consumers a new way to discover innovative mobile brands, and purchase products and services on their smartphones and tablets. It also provides Ibotta partners with the first app discovery affiliate platform to drive additional downloads and incremental in-app spending through offers and rewards.
Prior to the app-to-app marketplace, brands with mobile apps had limited options for driving mobile commerce through performance marketing tactics. Through this new offering, Ibotta becomes the one-stop shop for in-app rewards and another vehicle for partners to engage shoppers.
"Together with Ibotta, Button is changing the way users discover and transact within the app economy," said Michael Jaconi, co-founder and CEO of Button. "As we've seen with the success of companies in China, becoming the launching point for transactional behavior is arguably the most prolific and durable business model that exists in mobile. By creating enjoyable experiences for users and uncapped revenue opportunities, Button's helping to introduce this model to the U.S., and we're thrilled to play a role in this evolution and in the innovation Ibotta is pioneering."
Early partners are already seeing the benefits of this new technology:
Groupon: "We're thrilled that Groupon's entire marketplace of amazing local deals will be conveniently accessible to shoppers everywhere through Ibotta," said Paul Koura, head of global affiliate marketing for Groupon. "Whether it's dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant or a luxurious massage and spa package, we're giving people an additional way to connect with the local businesses in their neighborhood and discover exciting new things to eat, see, do and buy."
Hotels.com: "With over 50 million downloads, the Hotels.com mobile app provides travelers an unparalleled hotel booking experience," said Paul Cunha, senior director of global retail and business development for the Hotels.com brand. "With hundreds of thousands of properties, member-only deals, and now a cash rewards offering through Ibotta, we're focused on delivering great value to everyone looking for the perfect accommodations."
Jet: "We're excited to be partnering with Ibotta and Button on this innovative app-to-app marketplace," said Lauren Picasso, associate director of marketing for Jet. "At Jet, we're focused on helping our customers save more money on the things they already buy. We are thrilled that this partnership will help shoppers discover the value of Jet with the added convenience that comes with shopping on our mobile app. And with Ibotta rewards, it's truly a win-win partnership for the customer."
Spring: "At Spring, we're committed to offering the best possible mobile shopping experience for our users, and we're excited to partner with Ibotta on the launch of their app-to-app marketplace," said Zach Miller, VP of commerce partnerships at Spring. "Now with Button as the connective thread between us, we're able to open up the entire Spring catalog to Ibotta users through one simple click."

A Political Party is Brewing at 7-Eleven® Stores

IRVING, Texas(PRNewswire) - Perk up, America. The election season is about to get even more heated. That's because it's time for millions of American coffee-lovers to let their voices be heard in the fifth quadrennial 7-Election™ Presidential Coffee Cup Poll at participating 7-Eleven® stores. 7-Election coffee cups are out and ready to be counted.
Every four years during the U.S. presidential campaign, 7-Eleven launches its popular 7-Election coffee cup poll. The campaign invites customers to "cast their cups" by purchasing coffee in specially marked 7-Election cups. Starting Wednesday, Aug. 31, coffee-lovers can choose from three – blue Democrat, red Republican and, new this year, a nonpartisan, purple Speak Up cup.
7-Eleven customers can cast their cup votes simply by purchasing their coffee throughout the day. Voting will end on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. Patriotic coffee-drinkers can vote at participating 7-Eleven stores and, unlike the real election, as often as they want in the weeks leading up to the election.
"This is 7-Eleven's fifth 7-Election, and it's always a fun way to keep a finger on the caffeinated pulse of American politics," said Laura Gordon, 7-Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation. "Weeks before 7-Election cups appeared in stores, we were getting calls about whether we were going to hold another coffee cup poll for the 2016 election. We think it's the best-tasting poll around."
The 2016 election is big, and so are this year's 7-Election cups – 7-Eleven's premium extra-large Stay Hot cups. However, the price is not. The extra-large 7-Election cups are value priced between the suggested/regular retail prices of medium and large 7-Eleven hot beverage cups.
For those not interested in taking sides, the new "Speak Up" cup encourages customers to discuss or write in what's important to them this election season and share on social media with the hashtag #7ELECTION. Issues big and small from world peace and equal rights to slow Internet speeds and traffic jams are included in a "Make Your Voices Heard" section on the back of the cup. Non-partisan coffee-drinkers also can write in their own issue – or candidate – on the back of the cup.
"While preparing for the 2016 count-the-cups poll, we learned that voters, particularly younger ones, aren't just talking about candidates or even political parties this election. They're taking to social media to talk about a variety of issues that are important to them," Gordon said. "So we added the third 'Speak Out' cup to let people say what's on their mind, whether checking one of the boxes on the back of the cup or writing one in and sharing it."
To encourage even higher turnout, Free Coffee Week is slated for Oct. 3-9, when any size cup of fresh-brewed coffee will be free for 7Rewards® members. Available through the 7-Eleven mobile app, a 7Rewards coupon for one free any-size cup of coffee will be sent daily to members.
During Free Coffee Week, 7Rewards members will receive a daily coupon for one free cup of coffee, any size. Consumers wanting to take advantage of the week of free coffee can download the 7-Eleven mobile app from the App Store or GooglePlay so they can take advantage of this great offer.
But, wait! That's not all. After each of the three presidential debates, 7-Eleven will host a Dollar Day to encourage day-after feedback on the debate. Dollar Days are scheduled for Sept. 27, Oct. 10 and 20. The retailer will also offer dollar coffee on Election Day, Nov. 8, to encourage people to vote with their cups one last time before the real ballots are counted. The dollar offers are only available on 7-Election cups through the 7Rewards app.
7-Eleven cups are instantly tabulated at the register when the sale is made. Starting Sept. 6, national, state and major city results will be posted daily on www.7election.com, a website created especially for the coffee cup poll. Poll tallies will reflect the percentage of the three cups sold to date.
"Each day, more than 1 million Americans buy a cup of coffee at 7-Eleven stores," said Rusty Smith, 7-Eleven director of proprietary beverage brands. "7-Election is a warmup for the real election Nov. 8 and gets people talking about what party and what issues are important to them. Most polls measure only hundreds or thousands of voters. 7-Election has the potential to survey millions leading up to Election Day. We think the new 'Speak Up' cup provides a great way for our loyal coffee customers to let their voices be heard during the 2016 election."
After working with satirical website, The Onion, for the 2012 election, 7-Eleven has once again teamed up with America's Finest News Source to help get out the vote and a few laughs. The retailer is sponsoring The Onion's special election coverage, which will include links to the interactive 7-Election results map. An Election Survival Guide, Onion-style, will include topics like "Ways to Diffuse Tension during a Political Conversation," "Election Day Social Media Etiquette" and "How to Handle Your Candidate's Defeat."
With 7-Election, the convenience retailer has been an entertaining part of the political conversation during the past four presidential elections in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. In each of the previous 7-Elections, a staggering 6 million cups (ballots) were cast, and results in each mirrored those in the "real" elections.
While a nonpartisan beverage enjoyed by Democrats and Republicans alike, coffee does have deep political roots in American history. In 1607, Captain John Smith of Virginia introduced coffee in America, and it was named the national beverage by the First Continental Congress after the Boston Tea Party.
The closest locations to the Douglas County area is Olathe in Johnson County with 3 stores in a 100 mile radius. Olathe stores can be found at 1550 S Hamilton Circle, 951 S. Parker and 202 N Parker.
