Congressional Candidate Caryn Tyson Stops in Baldwin City

Baldwin City, KS - A candidate for the Kansas second Congressional seat currently held by retiring Lynn Jenkins stopped in Baldwin City last week.  State Senator Caryn Tyson, Parker, KS, who currently serves the twelfth senate district of Kansas, which covers parts of Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Franklin, Linn, and Miami counties. In a statement Tyson said,

"I am greatly encouraged by the very positive response I received during my visit of all 25 counties in the second district."

She told the Gazette that her campaign will be a grassroots campaign, because

"I believe the people of the second district are looking for a representative they can trust-someone who will truely listen, someone who represents their values, and someone who has the real-world experience necessary to get the job done."

Tyson and her husband, Tim are both fifth generation farmers, who own and operate Tyson Ranch in Linn County, which was established by Tim's great-great-grandfather.
At the time of her announcement, Tyson said,
 "I'm troubled that instead of truly listening and delivering results, too many in Washington are defending the status quo. Washington has failed us. The people of the second district deserve better. We need to embrace the President's call to repeal and replace Obamacare, secure our borders, and pass comprehensive tax reform to cut taxes."
A graduate of K-State, Tyson has math and science degrees from that University, as well as an engineering degree from Kansas University. After graduating she spent twenty-five years working in the information technology industry for more than 25-years, during which time her work included space shuttle support for NASA.
Tyson also served in the Kansas House and Senate and currently serves as the  Chair of the Taxation Committee in the Kansas Senate.
When she filled, Tyson joined what is becoming a crowded field for the second District Republican nomination, including Sen. Steve Fitzgerald of Leavenworth, Rep. Kevin Jones of Wellsville and Basehor City Council member Vernon Fields.
 On the Democratic side, a former House minority leader and candidate for governor, Paul Davis, is seeking the nomination. Neosho County Democrat Kelly Standley has also indicated that he will run.
