Baldwin City Council Makes Quick Work of Agenda

Twenty-four minutes. That's all it took to get through council agenda at the May 16, 2017 meeting. The meeting was called to order by Council-Member Kathy Gerstner in the absence of Mayor Marilyn Pearse.
After quickly approving the consent agenda, the Council recognized Corporal Kim Springer for her many years of service, with the Baldwin Police Department. Springer will be moving Saturday to return to her hometown. Chief Greg Neis in recognizing her said, that Springer had been the longest serving officer on the police department. A plaque had been ordered, but Neis said it wouldn't arrive until Thursday. So it would be presented to her on Friday at the going away party. Which will start at 5 P.M. at the Baldwin City Firehouse.
However, she wasn't the only city staff member, with many years of service that is leaving. City Codes Administrator Tina Rakes was also recognized for her many years of service to the city. She will still be in the Baldwin City area, but will be working for Douglas County. However, she will continue to be helping the city, until a replacement can be hired.

In other business:
Unanimously approved ordinance 1367 which amended zoning ordinance 1247.
Unanimously approved ordinance 1369 which created fees from electric meter testing.
Unanimously approved ordinance 1370 which created fees from water meter testing.
