Bayless Take Possession Their New Home

The Bayless family arrived to their new home (1100 Fremont) in the back of a stretch limo that had problems turning unto Fremont Street. After pulling in front of the driveway, the car stopped as the driver let out Alicia, Josh and their children Jason, Alison and Cody. As the ceremony/ribbon cutting for the families new home began, they opened with a prayer by Pastor Paul Babcock of Baldwin First United Methodist Church.  Erika Zimmerman, Habitat For Humanity Executive Director, said that Baldwin City is a fantastic community has inspired the Lawrence Habitat for Humanity.  The city as a whole turned out to volunteer with the build, raise the funds needed to build the house. The home however, is not just given to the family, they will have a mortgage to pay off, although it will be a 30-year interest free mortgage, besides all the sweat equity they were required to put into it.

Alicia Bayless, thanked all the volunteers that made this happen. She and the family were then presented with gifts of a family bible, embossed with their family name. Restore Lawrence manager Michelle Johnson presented the family with a $100 gift certificate and a bag of cleaning supplies which were donated by Procter and Gamble.  Logan Morley, Lawrence High School Habitat Club, presented the family with a $400 Walmart gift certificate and Kim Wampler. Family Support Committee, gave the family a photo frame filled with family pictures including of the baby, Jason, welding the hammer during the nail drive ceremony.
The 1900 square foot home features a bedroom for each child and a storm shelter in one of the bathrooms.  Karen Zimmerman, one of those in attendance, said that she loves the closets and bay window.
