According to the KHP a 2008 Lexus GX driven by Stephen (Steve) Bauer, 75, Baldwin City, was southbound on US 169, when the driver lost control and crossed over the center line into the path into the path of a Mack truck, driven by Zachariah Breen, 27, Wellsville. Breen was northbound on US 169.
Bauer and his passenger, Alison Bauer, 57, Baldwin City were both pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the other vehicle, Breen was transported to the Anderson County Hospital in Garnet.
According to the accident report both drivers had been wearing their seat belt.
The sudden passing of Bauer who had served on the Baldwin City Council since 2015, will leave a vacancy on the Baldwin City Council that will need to be filled. No word at this time on the time table for that. His seat was not one of the seats that were up for election later this year.
