Cities Business Community Changing

Kevin Surbaugh

 Perks Coffee
Baldwin City's business community is changing.  Recently, Perks Coffee Shop (914 Ames) started serving Chester's Fried Chicken. The menu includes Chester's breakfast items, which the Baldwin City location could add in the future.

Edward Jones
In addition, work has begun on the downtown building (723 8th Street) that will soon house the local Edward Jones office. In a response to email inquiries, Peter Carr, Edward Jones Financial Advisor, said,
Work has been going for 8+ months now on the office space. We are in final stretch now. Hoping to be open by June 15.
He expects to have a firmer date in about three weeks.

Wooden Spoke
Rumor has it that the Wooden Spoke (203 1st Street) will be moving across the street into the former Puckett's (309 Ames) location, which was originally a Casey's General Store. The rumors seem to be true, as a flurry of activity has been seen recently with a Wooden Spoke sign replacing the old Puckett's sign. Work is progressing at the new location and no firm date is set for the move.

Napa Auto Parts
Napa Auto of Baldwin City (151 N 6th Street) reopened in early April. The store which had been closed for a number of months, was bought by Troy Lockhart, who owns the Ottawa, Baldwin City and six other stores.
