Six Wildcats Set to Compete in Topeka at NAIA National Championships



TOPEKA, Kansas – Six members of the Baker University wrestling team are set to compete in the 60th Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships, Presented by USA Wrestling-Kansas on March 3-4 inside the Kansas Expocentre.

The six Wildcats that will represent Baker include 125-pound Zane Baugh, 133-pound Colby Watters, 149-pound Victor Hughes, 157-pound Jon Blackwell, 184-pound Jacob Smith and 197-pound David Dow.

Hughes is the defending NAIA National Champion at 149-pounds and looks to become the first Baker athlete in the history of the athletics program to win two NAIA individual national championships. He enters the event as the number 1 ranked 149-pound wrestler in the NAIA.

Blackwell is ranked number 14 currently in his weight class and Dow is ranked number 16.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with the first session, then is followed with session II beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday's first session begins at 10 a.m. with the Championship semifinals. The final session of the event will begin at 7 p.m. with the Championship Finals.
