Topeka, KS – A Westar press statement from Topeka issued on Sunday (June 3) afternoon that two Westar Energy employees were injured at the Jeffrey Energy Center near Saint Mary, KS at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. They were transported by helicopter to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where they are being treated for severe burns. Immediate family members have been notified.John Bridson, senior vice president generation, said,
“Our first priority is our injured people, their families and all plant personnel. Our Jeffrey Energy Center team is like an extended family, and we want to ensure everyone at the plant feels and is safe.”According to the statement, the circumstances of the incident are under review.
