Ivan Jarett (Jay) Morgan Obituary

 Ivan Jarett (Jay) Morgan
Age 93 of Fort Collins
Jay passed away peacefully April 20, 2017 while in the Centre Rehabilitation facility. He had been living in New Mercer Commons since July of last year. Jay has been a resident of Fort Collins since 1998 when he and his wife, Lila Jean Morgan moved from Prairie Village, Kansas.
Jay Morgan was born January 7, 1924, in Baldwin City, Kansas, to Orvil Scott Morgan and Myrnice Crysler Morgan. After graduating from Baldwin High School, he joined the United States Navy on May 15, 1943, where he became a pilot. During World War II, he predominantly flew carrier based SB 2 C Curtis Hell Diver dive bombers. After the end of the War, he continued to fly with the Naval Reserve until he was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces October 14, 1955. He returned to Baldwin in 1945 to attended Baker University, where he met Lila Jean Bachman, whom he married on August 24, 1949. After graduating from Baker in 1948, he began his professional career with the Equitable Life Assurance Company, where he worked as an executive for nearly 30 years until retiring. He then went on to work in residential real estate sales for another 10 years, prior to moving to Colorado to be with family.

Surviving family include three sons, Ross Morgan and his wife Kathy, Randy Morgan and his wife Nancy, and Mitch Morgan and his wife Becky; four grandchildren, Lyndsay Morgan, Allie Morgan, Tyler Morgan, and Taylor Morgan; and numerous loving nieces and nephews, and their families.
The last of his generation, he is preceded in death by his wife Jean, who died February 1, 2005; his parents, his brother, O. Scott Morgan, and his sisters, Buena Vista Ulrich, Noreen Williams and Jane Cross.
Jay was a loving father and patriarch to his sons and extended family. His warm smile and kind heart will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

State Senator Tom Holland has represented the third district, including Baldwin City, since 2009. He was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 2003-2008. Tom will share his perspective  on the current legislative session, and discuss current legislation going forward statewide.

Kansas Linux Fest (KLF) is an annual event dedicated to free and open source software as well as open knowledge and education. This year marks the third annual event and will be held in Wichita, Kansas May 12-14th, 2017 at Wichita State University.
KLF 2017 is open and welcome to people of all experiences; you do not have to be a “Linux expert” to attend and benefit from attending.
